The Premier League has expanded its NEXTGEN Coach programme to Singapore, delivering a four-day grassroots coach development course in partnership with the Football Association of Singapore, the League announced on Wednesday.T1 - Premier League official

Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole and ex-Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic served as ambassadors for the programme, which brought together grassroots coaches from across the region for training sessions rooted in the League’s community coaching methodology. The initiative builds on a similar programme delivered in 2025 and represents the Premier League’s continued investment in Singapore, where it opened its first international office in 2019.

The Premier League has committed to running NEXTGEN Coach in Singapore for at least two more years, with a stated focus on strengthening coaching standards at grassroots level and widening inclusive participation through local partnerships. Care Corner, a Singapore-based social services organisation, is also supporting the delivery of the programme alongside the FAS.

The League’s community coach development work has previously operated across several Asian markets, but the Singapore expansion marks the most sustained commitment to a single country in the region. NEXTGEN Coach is designed to equip local coaches with session plans and pedagogical tools that can be applied in school and community settings, with the aim of creating a lasting impact on the football ecosystem beyond the four-day course.

Cole and Vidic are expected to return for future editions of the programme, with the next cycle likely to begin in early 2027.
