Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 May 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of mercatowire.com (“the Site”), operated by MercatoWire (“we”, “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. The Site
MercatoWire is an independent football newswire. We publish editorial articles, analysis, and curated information about the Premier League, Women’s Super League, English-club European competitions, the World Cup and Euros, and the global football transfer market.
The Site is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site or any portion of it at any time without notice.
2. Editorial integrity and source tiering
Every article on MercatoWire carries a source tier (Tier 1 gold, Tier 2 silver, Tier 3 bronze, or Rumour grey) reflecting our confidence in the underlying reporting. The methodology is published at /editorial/tiers/.
We strive for accuracy but do not warrant that every claim is correct. When stories evolve, we update articles in place with an “UPDATED” or “RETRACTED” overlay and an explanatory note. Articles are never deleted to hide errors.
3. Intellectual property

All editorial content on the Site (articles, analysis, headlines, brand assets, tier-badge system) is owned by MercatoWire or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and trade-mark law.
You may:
- Read and bookmark articles for personal use

- Quote brief excerpts (under 150 words) for commentary, criticism, or news reporting purposes, with attribution and a link back to the original article (“fair dealing” / “fair use”)
You may not:
- Republish full articles or substantial portions on another website without our prior written consent
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract our content for use in another publication, AI training dataset, or commercial product
- Use our brand assets (logo, name, tier badges) in any way that suggests endorsement or affiliation
