Why three mascots
2026 is the first FIFA World Cup co-hosted by three countries, so FIFA gave each host its own animal mascot rather than a single tournament character. Maple represents Canada, Zayu represents Mexico, and Clutch represents the United States.
The trio was introduced on 25 September 2025, several months before the opening match on 11 June 2026. Each mascot is an anthropomorphic animal styled around a footballing role.
